At NDA meeting, alliance leaders get rousing welcome from BJP leaders

Leaders of NDA constituents were given a rousing welcome as they arrived to attend a crucial meeting of the BJP-led alliance here on Tuesday. Thirty-eight parties are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and as their leaders reached the venue, they were welcomed with flower bouquets and stoles amid dhol beats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called them "valued partners" and asserted that the bloc is a time-tested alliance that seeks to further national progress and fulfil regional aspirations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the annual high-level session of the UN General Assembly in September, according to a provisional list of speakers issued by the UN here. The high-level General Debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly will begin September 19, 2023, with Brazil as the traditional first speaker of the session, followed by the US. As per the provisional list of speakers for the high-level general debate of the 78th session of the General Assembly, India's "Head of Government" (HG) will address the session in the afternoon of September 22. India and France agreed to develop new generation military equipment as part of a long-term roadmap during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Paris, French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain said on Tuesday. The envoy also said that there is "real" political consensus in France on enhancing ties with India as he cited Modi's meetings with President of the French Senate Grard Larcher, President of French National Assembly Yal Braun-Pivet and Prime Minister lisabeth Borne. PM Narendra Modi condoles former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy's demise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the passing away of veteran Congress leader and former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy, and said "we have lost a humble and dedicated leader who devoted his life to public service and worked towards the progress of Kerala". Chandy, who served as the chief minister of Kerala twice, passed away in Bengaluru in the early hours of Tuesday, his family said. He was 79. In a tweet, Modi said, "I recall my various interactions with him, particularly when we both served as Chief Ministers of our respective states, and later when I moved to Delhi. PM to inaugurate integrated terminal building at Port Blair airport Tuesday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the integrated terminal building of the Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair on Tuesday via video conferencing. Noting that boosting connectivity infrastructure has been a major focus of the government, the Prime Minister's Office said the new facility, built at a cost of around Rs 710 crore, will play a key role in enhancing connectivity to the island, a union territory. With a total built-up area of around 40,800 sqm, the building will be capable of handling about 50 lakh passengers annually. An apron suitable for two Boeing-767-400 and two Airbus-321 type aircraft has also been constructed at the airport at a cost of Rs 80 crore, making it suitable for parking 10 aircraft at a time, the PMO said.
