Govt eyes putting most critical blocks on auction by 2031: MoS SC Dubey

The government on Friday sought participation and support of the industry for the success of the National Critical Mineral Mission and said that it is aiming to put a maximum number of critical blocks on auction by 2031. The minister also stressed on the need for the country to become self-reliant in critical minerals and said that it can be possible when both government and industry works as a team. "I request you all to participate in his mission so that it becomes successful," Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines said while addressing Ficci's critical minerals mission. He further said that as many as 24 critical minerals blocks have already been auctioned and the government is aiming to put a maximum number of such blocks on sale by 2031. India, Argentina sign agreement to explore lithium, other critical minerals

India and Argentina on Wednesday signed an agreement for deeper collaboration in exploration and resource development of critical minerals, particularly lithium, an official statement said. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, Governor of Catamarca, Argentina, Ral Alejandro Jalil, here. Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in the mining sector, particularly in lithium exploration and investment opportunities, the Ministry of Mines said in a statement. NMDC reports 9.9% drop in iron ore production at 3.07 mn tonnes in August

Country's largest iron ore miner NMDC on Monday reported a 9.9 per cent drop in production of iron ore at 3.07 million tonnes (MT) in August. The company had produced 3.41 MT of iron ore in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal, NMDC said in a regulatory filing. The company's sales also declined to 3.14 million tonnes in August this year, from 3.54 MT in the corresponding month of previous fiscal. The company's cumulative iron ore output fell to 14.43 MT in April-August 2024, from 16.56 MT in the year-ago period. Sales dropped to 16.27 MT in April-August period, from 17.43 MT in the corresponding period of previous fiscal.
