Indore stadium receives another email with bomb threat; people evacuated

People were evacuated from the Holkar Stadium in Madhya Pradesh's Indore after the premises received a fresh bomb threat on Monday, police said. This is the second time in three days that the stadium has received a bomb threat, an official said. "We received information from the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) office that they had received an email threatening to blow up the Holkar Stadium," Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav told PTI. He said people were evacuated from the stadium, and a bomb squad was searching the premises. No suspicious object was found at the stadium, the official said. He said the MPCA had received a similar email on May 9, but it turned out to be a hoax. Another police official said in the past months, fake emails threatening to bomb Indore airport, bank branches, hospitals, and schools have been received, and an accused has been arrested in one case.

J&K CM Omar visits shell-hit Poonch, stresses need for building bunkers

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday reached out to people affected by Pakistani shelling in the Poonch district and stressed the need for setting up bunkers in the area. The Poonch district accounted for the highest 20 of the total 27 fatalities with over 50 others injured since Wednesday, shortly after India carried out Operation Sindoor, striking nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and PoK to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack that left 26 people dead. Abdullah, along with his advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Ajaz Jan, visited Poonch and surveyed areas heavily damaged by Pakistani shelling. They met with the families of those killed in the shelling, especially the family of Amarjeet Singh and Amrik Singh, and offered their condolences to the bereaved kin. Locals briefed the chief minister about the on-ground situation. The purpose of the visit was to provide support and comfort to the grieving families, the leaders said. Abdullah also visited the Surank

NCW condemns online trolling of FS Vikram Misri's daughter, urges restraint

The National Commission for Women has strongly condemned the online trolling of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, his family, and particularly his daughter media in the wake of India and Pakistan reaching an understanding on May 10 to halt all military actions. In a statement issued by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, the panel denounced the sharing of the young woman's personal contact details, calling it a "grossly irresponsible act" and a "serious breach of privacy" that endangers her safety. Rahatkar stressed that personal attacks on the family members of senior civil servants like Misri are not only unacceptable but also morally indefensible. Calling for restraint and respect in both online and offline spaces, the NCW urged citizens to rise above such behaviour. "Let us choose dignity and responsible conduct," Rahatkar added. The Misri family has also received support from veteran diplomat Nirupama Menon Rao and politicians Asaduddin Owaisi and Akhilesh Yadav. "It's utterly ...

'War is not Bollywood movie', says ex-Army chief on Operation Sindoor

Former Indian Army chief General Manoj Naravane has slammed questions being raised on the suspension of hostilities between India and Pakistan, saying war is not romantic and is not a Bollywood movie. Speaking at an event in Pune, Naravane said if ordered, he would go to war, but diplomacy would be his first choice. He said there is trauma among people living in the border areas, including children who have seen shelling and have to run to shelters at night. "For those who have lost their loved ones, that trauma will be carried through generations. There's also something called PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). People who have seen gruesome scenes wake up sweating even after 20 years and need psychiatric care," he said. Naravane was speaking at a programme organised by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. "War is not romantic. It is not your Bollywood movie. It is very serious business. War or violence should be the last thing we should resort to, which is why our Prim

After Pahalgam attack, India told nations it will strike Pak's terror infra

Following the Pahalgam attack, India conveyed to many world capitals, including the US, that there should be no doubts about its punitive strikes against terror camps operating from Pakistani soil, government sources said on Sunday. After the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, India communicated to various countries that its response to every Pakistani military action would be more forceful and decisive, they said. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi told US Vice President JD Vance on May 9 that Indian response will be "more forceful, stronger, devastating" in response to Pakistani actions, the sources said. Vance dialled Modi as the military confrontation between the two neighbours was significantly escalating. "In all our messages after April 22, we said we will hit the terrorists, there will be consequences. We were very, very clear from day one," said a source. "They fire, we fire. They stop, we stop. This was our message," the source said. The sources said Modi listened to

India's strikes on 8 Pak military facilities forced Islamabad to seek truce

Pakistan realised that India meant business after its eight air bases were destroyed, and "sued for peace" by seeking a cessation of hostilities, government sources said on Sunday. There was no need for a third-party intervention and, in fact, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to convey that the Pakistanis got the message after being hammered by Indian missiles, they said. The comments dilute US President Donald Trump's claim that American mediation brought about peace, said the sources, pointing out that Trump is given to hyperbole. On Saturday, the US president claimed credit for the understanding reached between India and Pakistan on halting all military actions, saying the two sides agreed on a "full and immediate ceasefire" after a "long night of talks mediated by the US". The sources cited above said the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan reached the understanding and no third party was ...

Govt rejects false claims of drones over J&K, explosions in Udhampur

The government on Sunday dismissed as "false" social media reports about explosions in Udhampur and drones being spotted in certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir. "Claims of heavy explosions in Udhampur are circulating on social media. The claim is FALSE. There have been no explosions in Udhampur," the Press Information Bureau's (PIB) Fact Check Unit said in a post on X. It said these rumours were being spread to create panic and urged people to rely only on official government sources for accurate information. The PIB's Fact Check Unit also dubbed as "fake" claims on social media that drones had been spotted in certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir. "This claim is fake. There is no drone activity in Jammu and Kashmir," it said on X. Social media has been awash with various claims regarding the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan in wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The Indian Armed Forces carried out strikes against terror sites inside Pakistan and ...
