The Supreme Court Friday directed the Centre to consider framing separate rules for granting disability certificates to leprosy patients for availing reservation and various welfare benefits. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud issued a slew of directions to the Centre and all states for eradication of leprosy and rehabilitation of those suffering from it. "Medical staff in private and government hospitals be sensitised to ensure that leprosy patients do not face discrimination," the bench said. The apex court further said that awareness campaign should be launched so that leprosy patients are not isolated and allowed to lead a normal married life. The court also asked the Centre and states to frame rules that public and private schools do not discriminate against children from leprosy affected families. A ten-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on Thursday in Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase-3 area.On receiving information, the police rescued the girl from a nearby park in the area. The victim also received injuries on her face.She was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for treatment, who then referred her to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Presently, the girl is said to be in a stable condition.Police is probing the incident. They are examining the CCTV footages of the incident spot in order to nab the culprit. The Bihar cabinet on Thursday granted its approval for Bihar lynching and mob violence victim compensation scheme-2018 under the ambit of the department of legal affairs. The scheme will come into force with immediate effect.With the implementation of this scheme, an interim relief of Rs 1 lakh will be granted to the victims of mob lynching within one month of the incident. Bihar government will further give an additional Rs. 2 lakhs after the investigation is complete.Besides, lynching and mob violence cases will be heard in a fast-track court on a day-to-day basis. Ahead of Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje's Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra in Kota division, PCC chief Sachin Pilot slammed her, saying farmers in the division have committed suicide due to low garlic prices and the government's apathy towards the issue. He said garlic was sold for Rs 2 per kg and seven farmers committed suicide in the last few days because they could not get reasonable price for their crops. "After their suicide, the government started procuring garlic but only 90,000 ton out of 8 lakh ton was procured," he told reporters here. The departments of transport and revenue have received the maximum number of requests for doorstep delivery of services, an official statement said Thursday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had Monday launched the ambitious scheme under which 40 public services, including driving licence, registration of marriage, new water connection, birth, death and caste certificates will be home delivered. According to the Delhi government, the transport department has received 1,156 requests and the revenue department 1,127 requests till 1 pm Thursday. The food and civil supplies department got 540 requests, social welfare 252, SC/ST welfare 120 and Delhi Jal Board 111. The most-in demand services are caste certificate, driving licence, income certificate, changes in RC, water connection, mutation and marriage registration, it said. The maximum number of requests (1,527) was received on September 12, it added.

The Centre for Health, Law, Ethics and Technology (CHLET) of the Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) launched the handbook "Rights of Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming People in India" in the presence of representatives of the community.
