Daifuku introduces advanced airport facility

Material handling giant Daifuku unveiled new technology- Self Bag Drop (SBD)- at Logis-Tech Tokyo 2018 that was held in Japan from 11th to14th September 2018.The new development expedites the departure process at airports by automating the experience. The passenger first performs facial recognition, then operates the device to receive a package tag. S/he then proceeds to set their baggage on a dedicated conveyor, where the technology reads the barcode and the structure of the invention makes it easy for the passengers to place their luggage."It usually takes three minutes for one passenger to check in their baggage at a traditional counter. CBSE releases advisory to alert people against fake websites

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has warned public against certain commercial websites which are using the board's logo to mislead students. "It has come to notice of the board that various commercial websites have created CBSE look alike pages with logo of CBSE on social networking sites for registration of candidates. This is creating confusion among public," an advisory by the board said. The CBSE has asked people to visit its official website for any query. "The members of public are, therefore, advised to visit CBSE official website for authentic and official information and prevent themselves from being cheated by the unscrupulous elements. Any information available or displayed other than the CBSE website, must be got verified from the official website. CBSE never asks for any details directly from the students through e-mail, facebook, twitter, phone or any other source," it added.

ABB to enhance power quality for India's longest freight train network

Industrial technology provider ABB Friday said it will supply equipment to enhance power quality at rail line along the country's longest freight corridor, helping trains run at optimum speed. "ABB will supply a step-less Power Quality Compensator Reactive (PQCR), which helps to regulate and stabilize the power supply when there are dynamic and highly fluctuating loads," the company said in a statement here. Ramakrishna Electro develops Indian satellite linked GPS module

Electronic component distributor Ramakrishna Electro Component (REC) has developed the first GPS module to be owned by an Indian firm that will primarily use an Indian satellite for navigation, a top company official claimed. "There have been dependency of imported GPS module which use the US, European or Russian satellite. We have developed GPS module, Utraq, in partnership with Shanghai Mobiletek and STMicroelectronics that will mainly use Indian satellite for GPS navigation," REC Managing Director Shivang Luthra told reporters. The module will be produced at Shanghai Mobiletek factory in China and the chips will be made by STMicroelectronics. "REC owns Utraq. This is only a component which will be used for the development of a tracking product. We will start rolling out module in October for the development of end products that will be used in automotive products," Luthra said.
