Sun Petrochemicals inks pact with Telangana govt for Rs 45,500 cr projects

Sun Petrochemicals has signed a MoU with the Telangana government for setting up large-scale pumped storage hydro power projects in the state with an investment of Rs 45,000 crore. The projects, "one of the single-largest investment deals ever", will come up in Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu districts of Telangana and are expected to create 7,000 jobs over a period, a release from the state government said. "These projects will have a combined capacity of 3,400 MW and will be complemented by downstream integrated solar power plants with a capacity of 5,440 MW. With an estimated investment of Rs 45,500 crore, this ambitious venture is expected to create over 7,000 jobs during the construction phase, significantly contributing to the socio-economic development of the State," it said. FMCG major Unilever on Tuesday agreed to establish two manufacturing units in Telangana following talks between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Hein Schumacher, CEO of Unilever, at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos. During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted Telangana's "extraordinary locational advantages" as a gateway and bridge to several southern states and other parts of the country, a state government release said. While Unilever operates multiple manufacturing sites in India, its presence in Telangana has thus far been minimal, the release added. In response, Unilever's CEO announced plans to establish a palm oil facility and refining unit in Telangana. STT Global signs MoU with T'gana to set up Rs 3,500 cr data centre campus

STT Global Data Centres India Pvt Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to establish a state-of-the-art data centre campus in the Meerkhanpet, Mucherla region, with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore. The MoU was signed in the presence of Telangana Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Bruno Lopez, Group CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), and other officials at the STT GDC office in Singapore. AIG Hospitals to invest Rs 800 crore in new oncology centre in Hyderabad

Multispecialty AIG Hospitals will be investing Rs 800 crore in a new dedicated oncology centre here. The Board of AIG Hospitals has also approved the acquisition of Proton Beam Therapy system from Belgium-based IBA, a supplier of equipment and services in the field of proton therapy. "The acquisition of the Proton Beam Therapy System and the strategic partnership with IBA represent a transformative step forward in our mission to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care," AIG Hospitals chairman Dr D Nageshwar Reddy said, in a press release. Court relaxes Allu Arjun's bail conditions, allows him to travel abroad

In a major relief to actor Allu Arjun, a court here has relaxed the conditions of his bail in the 'Pushpa 2' stampede case, exempting him from appearing before the investigating officer every Sunday. The court also permitted him to travel abroad to specified countries, with the condition that he must undertake to appear before the SHO of the Chikkadpally police station as and when required. He has been directed to inform the SHO of his travel schedule for each trip and provide details of his place of stay in the destination country until the charge sheet is filed. The remaining bail conditions remain unchanged, the court noted in its order dated January 10. The court's decision followed a petition filed by the actor seeking relaxation of the bail conditions. Telangana state's revenue receipts met only 46.7 per cent at Rs 1.03 lakh crore during the first eight months of the current financial year (till November), against the actual budget estimate of Rs 2.21 lakh crore, indicating probable financial stress in the coming months. According to the latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on Telangana's finances up to November, the total receipts (Revenue and capital; receipts) achieved only 51.5 per cent to Rs 1.41 lakh crore against the budget estimated Rs 2.74 lakh crore. Non-tax revenues of the state took a beating with just 14.82 per cent (Rs 5,217 crore) against the target of Rs 35,208 crore impacting the overall performance. Capital expenditure stood at about Rs 21,000 crore, 62.2 per cent of the budgeted Rs 33,500 crore.
