Toshiba Energy Systems on Monday said its arm Toshiba Transmission has inked an initial pact to invest about Rs 562 crore to expand manufacturing capacity in Telangana. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held in Tokyo in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI). Two men from Telangana were killed and a third injured in an attack, allegedly by a Pakistani national shouting religious slogans in a Dubai bakery where they worked, the family members of two victims claimed on Tuesday. Ashtapu Premsagar (35) from Soan village in Nirmal district was killed with a sword on April 11, his uncle A Poshetty told PTI. The alleged incident occurred at the bakery where the victims worked. Premsagar had been employed by the bakery for the past five-six years. He last visited his family two years ago, Poshetty said. Premsagar is survived by his wife and their two children. His family members have not been informed about the tragedy, Poshetty said and urged the government to help bring his mortal remains to India. Telangana Revenue Minister P Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said the ongoing search operations at SLBC tunnel where the fate of six persons trapped were still unknown, are expected to be completed in 15 days. Eight individualsincluding engineers and labourerswere trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project tunnel when a portion of it collapsed on February 22. So far, two bodies have been recovered from the debris in the tunnel. Personnel from state, central and private agencies are engaged in the search operations. Addressing the mediapersons at the tunnel site, Reddy said about 700-800 experts from various institutions have worked day and night under the supervision of the authorities for the 40 days and currently, around 550-560 people are continuing the search operations with state-of-the-art equipment. The Himachal Pradesh government on Saturday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana for establishing 400 MW Seli and 120 MW Miar Hydro Electric Power Projects in Lahaul-Spiti district. The MoUs were signed by Secretary Power Rakesh Kanwar on behalf of the HP government and Principal Secretary of Power Sandeep Kumar Sultania on behalf of the Telangana government in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, a statement issued here said. Telangana's economy witnessed a robust expansion in fiscal 2024-25 with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at current prices valued at Rs 16.12 lakh crore, reflecting a growth rate of 10 per cent, said Socio Economic Outlook for 2025. Its per capita income for 2024-25 at current prices is estimated at Rs 3.79 lakh, growing at 9.6 per cent and indicating an overall improvement in living standards, employment opportunities and economic development, said the Economic Outlook on Wednesday. "The state's economy has witnessed robust expansion, particularly in the IT sector, driven by strategic budgetary allocations for industry and technology," said the Economic Outlook.
