Tosham seat is the stronghold of one of the most influential families of Haryana. Hometurf of former CM Bansi CM. His two grand children: Congress candidate and cricket administrator-turned-politician Anirudh Chaudhary and BJP candidate Shruti Choudhry will contest.

 

Bansi Lal's two sons, Surendra and Mahendra were also at odds for the seat, which eventually went to Surendra, the younger son. Shruti is Surendra's daughter. Surendra died in a helicopter crash in 2005 after which the seat was represented by his wife Kiran for four terms as Congress MLA.

 

Shruti Choudhry won the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket in 2009. Shruti Choudhry served as working president of the Haryana unit of the Congress when she and her mother switched to the BJP in June. This decision is said to be due to denial of ticket to Shruti Choudhary from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency.
