Hyderabad most booked city, UP most visited state this year: Oyo Report

Hyderabad was the most booked city in India followed by Bengaluru in 2023, while Uttar Pradesh was the most visited state in the year, followed by Maharashtra, according to hospitality tech platform OYO's Travelopedia 2023. As per the year-end annual travel trends index, Travelopedia 2023, the period from September 30 to October 2 recorded the highest bookings among all long weekends in the year, OYO said in a statement. "Hyderabad emerged as the most booked city in India followed by Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkata...Smaller towns like Gorakhpur, Digha, Warangal, and Guntur experienced the highest year-on-year growth in bookings compared to 2022," it said. Among leisure destinations, OYO said Jaipur took the lead as the most visited in 2023 followed by Goa, Mysore, and Puducherry. Hospitality industry expects hiring to speed up after robust growth in 2023

The Indian hospitality and tourism sector is expected to see accelerated hiring going forward after witnessing a robust growth this year with domestic travels leading the way, according to industry players. With a report by the Hotel Association of India (HAI) projecting the hotel industry's direct contribution to India's GDP to reach USD 1 trillion by 2047, experts believe there will be a minimum of 25 per cent rise in the need for workforce, with the adjacent industries like travel, aviation, ticket booking, travel guides, and consultants to be increasingly in demand. "The hotel industry's direct contribution to India's GDP reaching USD 1 trillion by 2047 is a significant milestone. This substantial growth will undoubtedly bolster job creation within the sector, providing employment to millions of individuals across diverse skill sets," HAI Vice President K B Kachru told PTI. 94,332 Indians visit Singapore in October, highest after Indonesia, China

A total of 94,332 Indian tourists visited Singapore in October, up from 81,014 in the preceding month, according to a media report on Tuesday. India was rated as a third tourist-generating market for Singapore, overtaking Malaysia and Australia. "A total of 94,332 Indian tourists visited Singapore in October, up from 81,014 in the preceding month. It took over countries such as Malaysia and Australia," said the data released by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Malaysia, which came in fourth, with 88,641 tourist arrivals, down from 89,384 in September. Australia, which rounded out the top five, was the source of 88,032 visitors, down from 104,497 in the preceding month. So far in 2023, Singapore has welcomed some 11.3 million visitor arrivals, against the 12 million to 14 million arrivals that STB expects to hit in the full year, according to the media reports. HP govt clears Rs 2,500-crore development project of tourism sector

The Himachal Pradesh government has given clearance to a Rs 2,500-crore project for the development of the tourism sector, the state's tourism development corporation's chairperson R S Bali said on Friday. He made the announcement while inaugurating the three-day Asian Rafting Championship in Nadaun in Hamirpur district. The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) chairperson said that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has entrusted him with a huge responsibility and that the project worth about Rs 2,500 crore, which will be executed with the help of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has been given clearance. Under the project, detailed project reports have been made for a tourism corporation hotel, wellness centre and water sports centre in Nadaun also, Bali said. Tourism recovery in Asia-Pacific region strong, robust post pandemic: PATA

The recovery in tourism in the Asia-Pacific region after the COVID-19 pandemic has been "strong and robust" and the numbers have reached about 80 per cent of 2019's figures, the chief of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) said on Thursday. Nepal's tourism bounces back, receives nearly 700,000 tourists in 9 months

Nepal received around 7 lakh tourists in the first nine months of 2023 as the Himalayan nation gradually recovers from the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic, according to official data. The data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said a total of 692,372 tourists entered the country by air from January to September this year. We have achieved 98 per cent recovery in tourist arrival in September this year, said Mani Lama, director of Nepal Tourism Board. The government has set a target of bringing in one million foreign tourists in 2023. In September alone, 91,012 tourists visited Nepal, of which 28,694 tourists came from India, 8,174 from China, 7,364 from America, and 3,716 tourists came from Bangladesh. Meanwhile, 3,685 tourists came from Australia, 3, 640 from the United Kingdom, 3,011 from Sri Lanka, 2, 852 from Germany, 2,018 from South Korea and 1,0734 from Israel visited the Himalayan nation in September. Last year, only 58,314 tourists visited during the same .

Union Minister of state for Tourism Shripad Naik on Friday conducted a comprehensive review of the preparations for the fourth G20 Tourism Working Group meeting and Tourism Ministerial meeting in Goa.
