Trump, Vance return to Georgia after Harris' event in same Atlanta place

Thousands of fans of former President Donald Trump packed the same Atlanta arena Saturday as Vice President Kamala Harris did four days earlier, as both campaigns push hard in a state that Democrats and Republicans see as up for grabs yet again. Trump's event alongside his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, comes just days after Harris rallied thousands in the same basketball arena at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Taking the stage first, Vance credited Trump with exposing a massive coverup of the president's mental incapacity during the fateful June debate that ultimately led to President Joe Biden 's exit from the 2024 campaign, before lighting into Harris as a San Francisco liberal who is so far out of the mainstream and someone he described as complicit in guarding Biden's true state from the public. Anybody who is too blind to see Biden's incompetence, or let's be honest, too dishonest to admit it, doesn't deserve to be commander in chief," Vance said. "Kamala Harris is no

Kamala became Democratic nominee in least democratic way: Trump campaign

Vice President Kamala Harris has become the Democratic Party's presidential nominee in the least democratic way possible, rival Trump Campaign said here. The remarks by the Trump Campaign were made on Friday, hours after the Indian American leader was elected as the Democratic Party's candidate for the November 5th general elections. Democrats are the real threat to democracy, the Trump Campaign said. Kamala Harris the least popular vice president in modern US history has just officially been installed as the presumptive Democrat nominee for president without a single vote cast in her name, it said. In a process more reminiscent of communist China, Democrat elites deposed their previous nominee when their coverup of his decline was no longer tenable, then coronated Kamala in the least democratic way possible, the Trump campaign said. Now, they're shielding her from the public as long as they can lest voters notice her dangerously liberal ideology and complete lack of fitness for

Kamala Harris to interview 6 potential vice president picks this weekend

Vice President Kamala Harris is interviewing half-dozen potential running mates this weekend ahead of a formal announcement and a battleground tour with her new No. 2 next week. Her interview list includes Govs. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, J B Pritzker of Illinois, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Tim Walz of Minnesota, as well as Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, according to two people with knowledge of Harris' selection process. The people were granted anonymity to discuss private campaign deliberations. Shapiro and Kelly had been viewed as among the front-runners during her truncated selection process, which began with the vetting of about a dozen names. Some have publicly withdrawn from consideration, such as North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, who is close with Harris from their shared time as state attorneys general but expressed concern about regularly travelling out of the state if he were to be on the national Democratic ticket. US Secret Service accepts responsibility for failure to protect Trump

The United States Service has owned its failure to protect former president Donald Trump at an election rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. A young gunman shot at Trump, 78, when he was addressing an election rally in Butler. Trump escaped the assassination attempt, as a bullet flew within a millimetre of him and one of them hit his right ear. The Secret Service takes full responsibility for the tragic events of July 13th. This was a mission failure. The sole responsibility of our agency is to make sure our protectees are never put in danger. We fell short of that in Butler. And I'm working to make sure that this failure does not happen again, Acting Director of the US Secret Service, Ronald Rowe, told reporters at a news conference here. The main role of Secret Service is to protect the President, the former presidents and their family members. Presidential nominees also get protection of the secret service. Rowe said that the Secret Service will continue to cooperate with pending .

US Vice President Kamala Harris becomes Democratic presidential nominee

US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is of Indian and African heritage, was declared the 2024 presidential nominee of the ruling Democratic Party on Friday after she won enough votes from Democratic delegates in a virtual roll call. Harris, 59, would face Republican presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump, 78, in the general elections scheduled to be held on November 5. "I am honoured to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. I will officially accept the nomination next week. This campaign is about people coming together, fuelled by love of country, to fight for the best of who we are, Harris, who was abruptly thrust into the role of presidential candidate late last month after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for the White House, said. A step away from breaking the last glass ceiling of the United States, Harris became the first ever woman of colour to be on the top of a presidential ticket of a major American political party. Trump's gag order remains in effect after hush money conviction: NY court

A New York appeals court on Thursday denied Donald Trump's bid to end a gag order in his hush money criminal case, rejecting the Republican former president's argument that his May conviction constitutes a change in circumstances that warrants lifting the restrictions. A five-judge panel in the state's mid-level appellate court ruled that the trial judge, Juan M Merchan, was correct in extending parts of the gag order until Trump is sentenced, writing that the fair administration of justice necessarily includes sentencing. The ruling came a day after Trump's lawyers tried to file papers asking the appellate court to immediately lift the gag order. With its ruling imminent, the court rejected the filing, which called the restrictions an unconstitutional, election-interfering muzzle on Trump's free speech. In a copy of the prospective filing provided to the Associated Press, Trump's lawyers wrote that Vice President Kamala Harris' entry into the presidential race gives the matter new

Antony Blinken aims to ease tension over US polls on six-nation Asia tour

With large parts of the world in turmoil and deep uncertainty over the future direction of America's global role, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken sought this week to project an aura of calm normalcy as he traveled through Asia on his first overseas mission since President Joe Biden jolted the 2024 presidential race with his withdrawal. Whether he succeeded or not remains an open question. On a trip to Laos, Vietnam, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Mongolia that was punctuated by several potential escalatory developments in the Middle East, an uptick in Russian attacks in Ukraine and overshadowed by persistent fears about China's increasingly aggressive actions, he could not escape questions and comments about domestic U.S. politics. Having embarked on the six-nation tour just days after Biden's decision, Blinken no doubt would have preferred to avoid the issue entirely but came prepared with several stock answers to questions about U.S. leadership from concerned partner

Radical left Democratic Party bosses installed Kamala as puppet: Trump

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has alleged that the left Democratic Party bosses have installed Kamala Harris as a "puppet candidate" who is "totally scripted, owned, and controlled" by the donors and the power brokers. The former president's remarks came at an election rally in Pennsylvania, a state where he escaped an assassination attempt on July 13. The radical left Democrat party bosses have installed a puppet candidate to fight only for themselves. Kamala Harris got zero votes. She's totally scripted, owned, and controlled by the donors and the power brokers who created her campaign and who rip off our government and make billions and billions of dollars, Trump, 78, said. Trump has intensified his attacks on Harris as the race for the November 5 presidential election gained momentum with opinion polls showing that the Vice President has narrowed the gap with her Republican rival. Trump accused Harris, 59, of lying about 81-year-old Joe Biden's mental and physi

'If you got something to say say it to my face': Harris as she slams Trump

US Vice President and Democratic Party's presumptive presidential candidate Kamala Harris has challenged her Republican rival, former president Donald Trump, for a debate, provoking him to say whatever he has to say to her face. Addressing an election rally in the state of Georgia's Atlanta city on Tuesday, Harris, 59, said that the nature of presidential elections changed after she entered the race. She officially declared her candidacy after incumbent President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for a second term on July 20. The momentum in this race is shifting. There are signs that Donald Trump is feeling it. You may have noticed. So last week, you may have seen, he pulled out of the debate in September he had previously agreed to, Harris said. Well Donald, I do hope you'll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage because as the saying goes, if you got something to say, say it to my face, she said to a cheering crowd. So, here's the funny thing about that. Here's the funny thin

Harris, who is married to a Jewish man, doesn't like Jewish people: Trump

Former President Donald Trump in an interview on Tuesday claimed Vice President Kamala Harris, who is married to a Jewish man, doesn't like Jewish people" and seemed to agree with a radio host who called second gentleman Doug Emhoff a crappy Jew. Trump, in an interview on WABC radio on Tuesday, claimed Harris looked uncomfortable while meeting last week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. You can see the disdain, he said, adding, No. 1, she doesn't like Israel. No. 2, she doesn't like Jewish people. You know it, I know it and everybody knows it and nobody wants to say it. Trump has tried to capitalise on divisions in the Democratic Party over the Israel-Hamas war and sought to paint his political opponents as antisemitic while overlooking some of his own past comments and behaviour, such as dining at his Florida club with a Holocaust-denying white nationalist. With Harris replacing President Joe Biden as the likely Democratic presidential nominee, Trump has escalated his

Trump agrees to be interviewed in investigation of his assassination bid

Former President Donald Trump has agreed to be interviewed by the FBI as part of an investigation into his attempted assassination in Pennsylvania earlier this month, a special agent said on Monday in disclosing how the gunman prior to the shooting had researched mass attacks and explosive devices. The expected interview with the 2024 Republican presidential nominee is part of the FBI's standard protocol to speak with victims during the course of their criminal investigations. The FBI said on Friday that Trump was struck by a bullet or a fragment of one during the July 13 assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. "We want to get his perspective on what he observed," said Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Pittsburgh field office. "It is a standard victim interview like we would do for any other victim of crime, under any other circumstances." Through roughly 450 interviews, the FBI has fleshed out a portrait of the gunman, Thomas Matthew .

Trump claims Biden's exit from 2024 presidential race was a 'coup'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said incumbent US President Joe Biden was forced to exit the presidential race, describing it a "coup" by the Democratic Party. The former president's remarks came during an election rally in Minnesota on Saturday. This was really a coup of and by the Democrats. This was a coup of a man that had 14 million votes. He wanted to run. They wouldn't let him run. They treated him horribly. They said to him, we can do it the nice way, or we can do it the hard way. To Joe, he's president, Trump claimed. This was a coup with the presidency, he said. "They threatened him with the 25th Amendment. They said, Joe, we're going to threaten you with the 25th Amendment. You're cognitively and physically a mess. And if you don't get out, we're going to take you out with the 25th Amendment, Trump, 78, alleged. Harris will be most extreme radical liberal prez in US history: Trump

Kamala Harris will be the "most extreme radical liberal president in American history" if she is elected, Donald Trump has said, as he intensified his attacks on his Democratic rival in the presidential polls in November. Vice President Harris, 59, is the new presidential candidate of the Democratic party after incumbent President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew from the race. Trump, a former US president and the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, painted Harris as an overly liberal on immigration and abortion and called her a bum in a speech to a gathering of religious conservatives. She was a bum three weeks ago. She was a bum. A failed vice president and a failed administration with millions of people crossing, and she was the border czar, Trump said in a speech at Turning Point USA's "The Believers Summit," in West Palm Beach, Florida. The 78-year-old former president called her the most incompetent, unpopular, and far-left vice president in American history. "If Kamala Harris ge
