Pakistani players issued Indian visa for ICC World Cup 2023 travel

Members of the Pakistan cricket team were on Monday issued Indian visas for the ODI World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed, hours after the PCB raised serious concerns with the global body over the delay in the national team's travel to Hyderabad. The visa clearance came less than 48 hours before Pakistan's scheduled travel to India in the wee hours of September 27. They play their first warm-up game against New Zealand in Hyderabad on September 29. "Visas have been issued to Pakistan," an ICC spokesperson told PTI. However, confusion remained in the Pakistan camp over the grant of visa. "We have not got the call from Indian High Commission yet over visa clearance. Member of our team is stationed there," PCB spokesperon Umar Farooq told PTI. World Cup winners to get $4 million, runners-up to recieve $2 million: ICC

The winner of the upcoming ODI World Cup will get a prize purse of USD 4 million (approximately Rs 33 crore) while the runners-up will get richer by USD 2 million (approximately 16 crore), the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Friday. The ICC announced the prize money and incentives for all 48 matches to be played in the showpiece starting next month. The two losing semi finalists will get USD 800,000 (Rs 6 crore approximately) each. The other six teams who fail to qualify for the knockouts will get USD 100,000 (Rs 82 lakh approximately) each, and the winner of each group stage match will get an incentive of USD 40000 (Rs 33 lakh approximately). A total of 10 million USD will be distributed by the ICC among all winning teams throughout the tournament. The apex body has taken this decision in a bid to make the tournament more competitive and entertaining, both for the players and the fans. Ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring the possibility of sending a psychologist with the squad to India to cope with the pressures of the high-profile tournament. However, a final decision in this regard will be taken only after PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf's meeting the captain Babar Azam. Pakistan is set to send a security delegation to India for inspecting the venues before giving clearance for the national team's travel to the neighbouring country for this year's ICC ODI World Cup. An official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry said that the government, including the foreign and interior ministry would decide when to send the security delegation to India once the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board was elected after the Eid holidays. "The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup," he said. Australia declared their second innings at 270 for 8 on day four, setting India a mammoth 444-run target to the win the World Test Championship final here on Saturday.
