3 capitals issue could come up in AP assembly on monsoon session's 1st day

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to make a PowerPoint presentation, on the need for three capitals for the state, in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on the opening day of the monsoon session beginning Thursday. There is no clarity from the government side yet on whether or not a new Bill will be introduced in the Legislature on the three capitals plan. In a face-saving exercise to pre-empt a legal fallout, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government abruptly passed a Bill in the Assembly on November 22 last year, repealing the controversial AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020, which was intended to establish three capitals for the state. The Chief Minister, however, had then vowed that his government would come up with a "complete, comprehensive and better" Bill to take forward his "decentralised development" plan after explaining "our genuine intention and the need for decentralisation" to all concerned and incorporating necessary ...

'Jagan unhappy' talks trigger Cabinet revamp speculation in Andhra Pradesh

: Political circles in Andhra Pradesh are abuzz with speculation of a reshuffle of the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led cabinet, with the ruling YSRCP and opposition TDP having a go at each other over the issue. Reddy was reportedly unhappy over his ministers' response to certain charges by the opposition TDP involving his family and made known his displeasure to them at a cabinet meeting on Thursday. Information Minister Ch S V Gopala Krishna is learnt to have asked the Information Commissioner T V K Reddy to hereafter send him cuttings of all adverse press reports daily morning so that he could issue a rebuttal. In this backdrop, talks are doing the rounds that the CM may revamp his Cabinet in November, by dropping at least three or four ministers. Earlier in April this year the AP Council of Ministers was reorganised when about half the then incumbents were dropped and fresh faces inducted. TDP MLC and general secretary Nara Lokesh took to Twitter to take a dig at Reddy on the issue. Why

An Indian-American doctor has filed a lawsuit here against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and business tycoon Gautam Adani on a host of issues, including corruption and Pegasus spyware. The US District Court for the District of Columbia has issued summons to all these leaders, along with several others, which were served on them in India earlier this year. Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy to meet President, PM, VP in Delhi

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will spend a busy day in the national capital on Monday meeting President Draupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others. The first and significant item on his itinerary is a meeting with the Prime Minister where he will discuss all state-related issues. Speculation is once again rife that the issue of the YSR Congress joining the NDA government at the Centre could be on their meeting agenda, though the party leaders have also been maintaining a silence on this. The YSRC has been maintaining a "very friendly" relationship with the BJP at the Centre since the former came to power in May 2019. Now that the NDA is said to be looking for new alliance partners following the exit of the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U), it is speculated that the YSRC may be offered berths in the Union Cabinet. This may suit YSRC's game plan of ensuring that the BJP does not re-align with the Telugu Desam Party. If t
