Delhi Police creates awareness among people at 'Bengali Market' hotspot amid lockdown

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Delhi Police has made a public announcement in Bengali Market amid coronavirus lockdown. Bengali Market has been declared as 'containment zone' by the Delhi Government on April 08. Barricading has been done by Delhi Police keeping in mind the coronavirus lockdown. One of the cops said, 'Bengali Market area has been sealed. Strict legal action will be taken against violators. A list of phone numbers has been issued and you can order essential items on phone. It will be delivered at your doorstep.' Police personnel have been deployed in the areas to maintain law and order situation. All movements will be completely barred from the areas to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Delhi government identified 20 hotspots on April 08 and sealed them completely.

Chirag Paswan appreciates steps taken by PM Modi to curtail spread of COVID-19 pandemic

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Lok Janshakti Party national president Chirag Paswan on meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing said that PM Modi is very serious regarding the spread of this pandemic as he took suggestions from each member present in the meeting and made personal notes. Appreciating the steps taken by PM Modi to curtail the spread, Paswan said that a country like India which has high population density is able to curtail COVID-19 patients within 5,000 till now is a great achievement in itself. He further confirmed that PM Modi has also said that the kind of information coming from across country, it is very difficult to lift the lockdown.

COVID-19: DIG rides cycle to check preparedness in MP's Chhatarpur

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh), Apr 09 (ANI): Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Chhatarpur, Vivek Raj Singh carried out inspection in his area on April 08. He rode a cycle to check the preparedness of police department. DIG also wanted to spread awareness among locals amid coronavirus lockdown. While speaking to ANI, DIG Vivek Raj Singh said, "I wanted to check if coronavirus lockdown norms are being followed and also wanted to spread awareness among locals."

J-K Bank maintains 'social distancing' as preventive measure against COVID-19

Poonch (J-K), Apr 09 (ANI): A bank in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district is providing services to its customers by maintaining social distancing amid COVID-19 threat. Norm of social distancing was maintained at a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Poonch due to coronavirus outbreak. It was done as a preventive measure against coronavirus. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of COVID-19 outbreak. There are total confirmed 166 cases of coronavirus in J-K including 4 deaths and 4 cured. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 5095 in India and 166 deaths.

On Mumbai becoming a big hotspot for COVID-19, Sanjay Raut said, "If Mumbai becomes the hotspot of COVID-19, then it will be very dangerous as it is the economic capital of the country. People from across the country come here for work from corporate to labourers."

Security tightened at Delhi's 'hotspots' amid COVID-19 threat

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Mayurdhwaj Apartment in Delhi's IP Extension has been declared as 'containment zone' by the Delhi Government on April 08. Barricading has been done by Delhi Police outside the apartment keeping in mind coronavirus lockdown. On the other side, lane number 9 of Pandav Nagar was also declared as 'containment zone' yesterday. Delhi Police personnel have been deployed in the areas to maintain law and order situation. All movements will be completely barred from the areas to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Delhi government identified 20 hotspots on April 08 and sealed them completely. Vardhaman Apartment in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension has also been identified as a 'containment zone' by Delhi Government. There are total 606 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Delhi including nine deaths and 21 cured. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 4714 in India and 149 deaths.

Jaish commander killed in joint operation: North Kashmir DIG

Baramulla (JandK), Apr 09 (ANI): 22 Rashtriya Rifles, Sopore Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a joint operation eliminated the commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Sajad Dar in the Gulabad area under Sopore Police Station Limits, said Suleman Choudhary, DIG, North Kashmir Range. "We had specific information about militants hiding in Gulabad area under Sopore police station limits.Accordingly,a joint cordonand search operation was launched by 22 Rashtriya Rifles, Sopore PoliceandCentral Reserve Police Force, yesterday," Choudhary told ANI about the operation in which the JeM commander was killed, and the authorities recovered one AK rifle, three AK magazines and 59 rounds.

Higher rates of depression in obese adults, says study

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): In a UK-based study on adults who were overweight, the incidence of new cases of depression saw a significant increase. The risk of depression also rose with higher weight. According to the study published in the journal Obesity based on the primary care records, 519,513 UK adults who were overweight or obese between 2000-2016 and followed up until 2019, the incidence of new cases of depression was 92 per 10,000 people per year. The study also found that antidepressants were prescribed in approximately two-thirds of adults who were overweight or obese. Prescriptions for fluoxetine dropped over time (from 20.4 per cent in 2000 to 8.8 per cent in 2018) and prescriptions for sertraline increased (from 4.3 per cent in 2000 to 38.9 per cent in 2018).
