COVID: Delhi Health Minister appeals Centre for more ICU beds

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): As Delhi continues to bear the brunt of COVID, Health Minister Satyendar Jain admitted the crisis of ICU beds in the hospitals and demanded for more ICU beds from the Centre. "There is a crisis of ICU beds. We have made a request to the Centre, I think they will give us 700-800 ICU beds soon. We have demanded 7000 beds in Central government-run hospitals, they have given us around 2000," said Health Minister Jain.

Maharashtra govt appeals Centre to allot more Remdesivir injections

Mumbai, Apr 22 (ANI): Maharashtra Government appealed Centre to allot more Remdesivir injections to the State to battle COVID-19. "We need 50,000 Remdisivir injections daily but now we have been allotted only 26,000 injections for the next 10 days by the Centre. I appeal to the Government of India to allot more injections to the State, I will write to them today," said Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

Farmers struggling to get 2nd dose of COVID vaccine: Rakesh Tikait

Ghazipur Border, Apr 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rahesh Tikait on April 22 at Ghazipur border said that many farmers are struggling to get the second dose of COVID vaccine. "Farmers are at their home. Where else will we ask them to go? Is COVID spreading from here? We have been living here for last 5 months, it's our home now. Many farmers took vaccine but are struggling to get the 2nd dose. We have told officers to set up camp here," said BKU leader. Farmers have been agitating against farm laws at Delhi's border from past 5 months.

'Not a comfortable situation': Delhi Health Minister on shortage of medical oxygen

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): As hospitals in Delhi reel under the crisis of medical oxygen, Delhi's Health Minister Satyendar Jain on April 22 raised concerns and said that 'not a comfortable situation' as oxygen last in some hospitals for 6 to 10 hrs. "Situation is different in different hospitals; 6 hours in some, 8 in others 10 in some others. We can't call this a comfortable situation," said Health Minister Jain.

"Oxygen Express" arrives in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam (AP), Apr 22 (ANI): "Oxygen Express" arrived in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam on April 22. The cryogenic tankers, with a total carrying capacity of more than 100 tons of LMO (Liquid Medical Oxygen) will be loaded at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) - Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. It will be utilised for the oxygen requirement for COVID patients in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Bhopal welcomes its 1st oxygen bank

Bhopal (Bihar), Apr 22 (ANI): Bhopal's first Oxygen bank was set up on April 21, wherein BJP leader Rahul Kothari donated 40 oxygen generators through Sarokar organization. These oxygen concentrators are valuable for mildly symptomatic patients. Bhopal collector Avinash Lavania said, "Patients will not be required to come to the hospital, instead these oxygen concentrators which can maintain the flow up to 50lmp will be provided at their home. These are for patients who are mildly symptomatic or who need less oxygen support."

COVID: Night curfew into effect in Karnataka

Hubli/Shivamogga (Karnataka), Apr 22 (ANI): Karnataka government on April 20 had announced night curfew and weekend lockdown to curb the further spread of COVID-19. Night curfew, started from April 21 will be in place till May 04 from 9 pm to 6 am. Police was on strict vigil in Hubli as night curfew came into effect. Weekend curfew will be enforced starting from 9 pm on April 23 to 6 am on April 26. However, all essential services will remain operational. Karnataka reported 23,558 fresh COVID cases on April 21. Currently there are 1,76,188 active cases in the state.

COVID: Migrants in Amritsar head home amid lockdown fear

Amritsar (Punjab), Apr 22(ANI): Scores of migrant workers gathered at the Amritsar railway station to return to their native places amid the rising fear of complete lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. One of the migrants said, "We are afraid that situation like last time might happen again, therefore we are going. I work in a hotel and hotels have been shut." Punjab reported 4,970 new COVID-19 cases and 69 deaths on April 21. Total COVID caseload of the state stood at 3,14,269. Currently there are 38,866 active cases in Punjab.

Gujarat CM takes first dose of COVID vaccine in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), April 21 (ANI): Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani on April 21 took his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Gandhinagar. CM Rupani was seen following all the COVID protocols at the centre. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, as many as 11,403 new COVID-19 cases and 117 deaths were reported in Gujarat, along with 4,179 recoveries, the state health department informed on Tuesday evening.

People were hopeful PM will announce relief package for migrant workers, poor: Nawab Malik

Mumbai, Apr 21 (ANI): Maharashtra Minority Development Minister Nawab Malik reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to nation on April 20. He reacted to PM's 'States to consider lockdowns only as the last option and focus creating on micro containment zones' statement and said the entire country is reeling under the threat of COVID-19 and a situation has come where imposing lockdown is the only option. CM is yet to take any decision on lockdown: Karnataka Home Minister

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Apr 21 (ANI): As coronavirus cases continue to surge across the country, Karnataka government on April 20 announced night curfew in the state. Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraja Bommai informed that Ex-CM Kumaraswamy is in favour of implementing lockdown but the Chief Minister is yet to take any decision. Basavaraja Bommai said, "Ex-CM Kumaraswamy and Governor have said that there should be a lockdown. Chief Minister is yet to take any decision on lockdown. Chief Secretary has also prepared a report. After discussing with experts, probably, CM will take a call tonight."
