World Economic Forum names Bhavin Turakhia 'Young Global Leader 2011'

Founder & CEO of $300 mn Directi Group among 11 other Indian Honorees

Directi, a leading global internet products company, today announced that the company’s Founder & CEO, Bhavin Turakhia, has been named as a “Young Global Leader 2011” by the World Economic Forum. The honour, bestowed each year by the Forum, recognises up to 200 outstanding young leaders from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.

For 2011, the Forum has selected 190 Young Global Leaders (YGLs) from 65 countries and all sectors of society (business, civil society, social entrepreneurs, politics and government, arts and culture, and opinion and media). The new class represents all regions & has been drawn from a pool of almost 5,000 candidates. The Young Global Leaders 2011 were chosen by a selection committee chaired by H.M. Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

12 Indians, including Bhavin Turakhia, have been featured in the List of 2011 Young Global Leaders. The Honourees include Anuradha Acharya, Founder & CEO of Ocimum Biosolutions Ltd, Sanjay Chandra, MD of Unitech Limited, Gita Gopinath, Professor of Economics at Harvard University, Chetan Maini, Deputy Chairman and Chief Technology Officer, Mahindra Reva, Meenakshi Natarajan, Member of Parliament.

Commenting on the recognition, Bhavin Turakhia said, “World over and in India too, the young and entrepreneurial generation is driving and shaping the future of technology, business dynamics and economies at large.
