Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said its power transmission and distribution vertical has bagged 'large' grid infrastructure orders in the Middle East. According to the company's project classification, a 'large' order is worth Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. The 400kV super grid interconnection linking the electricity networks of GCC member states has helped in efficient utilization of generation capacity and has improved the overall grid resilience, the company said in a regulatory filing. Currently, the network of the Sultanate of Oman is connected to this interconnection through UAE's grid at 220kV. Now a direct interconnection is being established at 400 kV level for which a 400 kV substation in UAE is crucial, the company added. L&T PT&D has won an order to engineer, procure and construct this 400 kV Substation, the filing said. Kalpataru Projects International Ltd (KPIL) on Thursday announced securing new orders worth Rs 2,306 crore in the domestic as well the international markets, taking its total order book to Rs 22,500 crore. The international orders have been bagged by its transmission & distribution (T&D) business, while the buildings business has got orders in India, KPIL said in a statement. The company along with its international subsidiaries have secured new orders/notification of Rs 2,306 crore, it said. "The T&D business continues to remain robust with strong tendering activity globally on the back of rising power demand, rapid expansion of renewable energy and focus on improvement of grid infrastructure. The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has inked a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) to export 800MW from 2028-29, a senior official said on Wednesday. The agreement marks a significant milestone in the partnership between DVC and HPPC, building on their existing PPA, under which the corporation already supplies 300 MW to Haryana from its operational units. The agreement, signed with the approval of the power ministry, will enable DVC to supply 800 MW from its three upcoming thermal units to Haryana. "Under the agreement, DVC will supply 300 MW from its Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x660 MW), 300 MW from Koderma Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x800 MW), and 200 MW from Durgapur Thermal Power Station (1x800 MW). A total expenditure of Rs 9.12 lakh crore has been planned to augment power transmission infrastructure capacity in the country by 2032, according to Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik. The National Electricity Plan (Transmission) covers the transmission plan till 2031-32, said Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Monday. As per the Plan, 1,91,474 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 1274 Giga Volt Ampere (GVA) of transformation capacity would be added (at 220 kV and above voltage level) in the 10-year period from 2022-23 to 2031-32. In addition, he stated that 33.25 GW of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) bi-pole links are also planned. CESC Ltd on Thursday reported a 6.74 per cent fall in its consolidated profit to Rs 415 crore for the March quarter, supported by higher income. It had clocked a net profit of Rs 445 crore in the year-ago period, the power company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income rose to Rs 3,460 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 3,208 crore in January-March FY23. During the period under review, its expenses stood at Rs 3,613 crore, as against Rs 3,099 crore a year ago. For full year, the company's profit rose to Rs 1,447 crore from Rs 1,397 crore in FY 22-23, it said. The board of the company also approved the appointment of Brajesh Singh as Managing Director (Generation) and Vineet Sikka as Managing Director (Distribution) for a period of five years with effect from May 28, 2024. Sterlite Power and global investment firm GIC will set up a joint venture for developing and operating power transmission projects in India, a statement said on Wednesday. The joint venture (JV) will focus on developing and operating power transmission projects in the country. Private power transmission developer Sterlite Power will own the majority 51 per cent stake and GIC will own the remaining 49 per cent shareholding, the statement said. Sterlite Power and an affiliate of GIC have announced the signing of definitive agreements to set up a new platform to develop and operate power transmission projects in India. This JV signals global confidence in India's growth vision, Sterlite Power Managing Director Pratik Agarwal said in the statement. Power transmission company Skipper Ltd on Monday posted an over two-fold rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 20.4 crore for December quarter FY24, backed by higher income. It had clocked a net profit of Rs 9.5 crore in October-December FY23, the company said in an exchange filing. Total income surged to Rs 803.8 crore from Rs 446.0 crore a year ago. Expenses were at Rs 777.4 crore as against Rs 436.6 crore in the third quarter last fiscal.
