Removing the uncertainty surrounding the name of its latest hatchback offering, Tata Motors has finally rechristened Zica as Tiago.

India’s fifth biggest automaker was forced to change the name of its hatchback after the outbreak of the Zika virus.

Zica was launched at the India Auto Expo in Greater Noida on February 3, 2016, after the outbreak of the Zika virus. With the threat of the viral epidemic looming large, Tata Motors was forced to change the name of its hatchback.

The company hopes to boost its sales with the Tiago, a curvaceous hatchback which is being endorsed by soccer legend Lionel Messi. The new hatchback will compete with vehicles in similar class from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor stables.
