Alstom Bharat Forge (ABFPL) today bagged an order worth Rs 2,251 crore from state-owned power producer, NTPC.

ABFPL is a joint venture between Baba Kalyani controlled Bharat Forge and French equipment major Alstom. It is setting up an initial installed capacity of 5,000 megawatts.

The order is to supply three units of 660 megawatts power project to at Nabingar, a joint venture between NTPC and Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB). The order is for engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of this coal fired, super-critical turbine generator islands.

This is the second order that ABFPL won from NTPC. In April last year, it won a Rs 1,570 crore order from NTPC to supply two units of 660 megwatts coal-fired supercritical tubine and generator sets, for its Solapur power project in Maharashtra.

Solapur and Nabinagar orders form a part of NTPC’s bulk tender in 2011, in which ABFPL emerged as the lowest bidder. As the Nabingar project raised loans and achieved financial closure, the order has been counted as a part of its books.
