Areva T&D bags Rs 110 cr order from PGCIL

Areva T&D India today said it has been awarded a contract worth Rs 110 crore from central transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to set up a 765 KV extra high voltage sub-station.

This will be one of the critical sub-stations in the eastern Grid and will be delivered in Sasaram, Bihar. With this order, AREVA T&D India has won 8 out of 17 orders for 765 KV substations from PGCIL, a company statement said here.

"AREVA T&D India is proud to partner with Power Grid in its nation-building initiatives to develop a country-wide extra and ultra high voltage transmission network. This 765 KV EHV contract further underlines AREVA T&D India's leadership in the 765 KV domain," Areva T&D India's Managing Director Rathin Basu said.

 

With the PGCIL-Sasaram 765 KV EHV sub-station order,Areva T&D India has won a total of 11 out of 21 sub-station projects of the same capacity awarded in the country to date, the statement said.

Areva T&D India is the industry leader, with a complete range of T&D products, systems, services and automation solutions. Around 70 per cent of load-flow in India is managed by Areva T&D's Automation solutions, it said.

The company has been a trend-setter in the field of high-voltage switchgear being the first to build the 765 KV sub-station in India with NTPC at SIPAT, Chhattisgarh, and has recently launched India's first fully localised 765 KV transformer, the statement said.
