Blue Star FY10 net profit up 17%

Air-conditioning firm Blue Star today said its net profit rose by 17 per cent to Rs 211.49 crore in the 2009-10 fiscal, compared to the year-ago period.
Total operating income in FY'10 stood at Rs 2,549.43 crore as against Rs 2,519.43 crore in the year-ago period, a statement issued by the company here said.
The carry-forward order book as on March 31 grew by 29 per cent to Rs 1,733 crore, compared to the order book of Rs 1,339 crore in the year-ago period, it said.
The company's board of directors proposed a dividend of Rs 8 per equity share (face-value of Rs 2) compared to Rs 7 last year.
In Q4 of FY'10, the company clocked a net profit growth of 18 per cent to Rs 78.54 crore. Its total operating income grew by 23 per cent to Rs 874.73 crore.
Blue Star's Executive Chairman, Ashok M Advani, said that, "The worst of the slowdown seems to be behind us and I am confident of better business in the new financial year."
