Manipal is adding new hospitals in Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Malaysia by next year with total capacity to cross over 2,500 beds across cities.
"The move comes in line with the Group's national and international expansion plans. Dr. Ballal's vivid experience will be leveraged to reinforce the Group's future plans in the north and east over the next two years," the company said in a statement.
A nephrologist, Dr. Ballal is also the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board and Medical Director, Board of Director & Member of Management Committee of MHEPL and a Senate Member of Manipal University.
He has also held several other portfolios internationally such as, the Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Manipal University, a Clinical Professor of Medicine at St. Louis University Medical Centre, Chairman of the Board at Stempeutics Research Pvt. Ltd., teacher/examiner in DNB Nephrology and examiner for the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), London.

Dr Ballal said that the firm is positioning itself as a wellness chain instead of a hospital and has tied up with Portea to provide home services across the country.
