Dubai-based Emirates Airline expects an increase of 10-15 per cent in revenues from its Indian operations this fiscal, on the back of a likely hike of 15-20 per cent in traffic through his financial year.

“We are expecting robust growth from our Indian operations this year. India had been one of the most resilient markets for us even in the face of recession and disruptions in flights due to volcanic ash,” Emirates vice president – India & Nepal Orhan M A M Abbas said here today.

The airline, which currently operates 184 weekly flights from 10 domestic destinations to Dubai, however, did not confirm whether this would translate into a larger contribution from India to its overall revenue. Last fiscal, the firm's global operations registered a net profit of $12.4 billion, with revenues of $1.1 billion. The West Asia-Indian Ocean region contributions to this stood at 12.6 per cent.

“While corporate movement fell during the recession, leisure movement saw an increase. As far as the airline is concerned, the recession is over,” Abbas added.
