The cement major Grasim Industries, the flagship company of Aditya Birla group, has registered 0.49 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 514.19 crore for the first quarter, while the revenue increased 6.85 per cent to Rs 2674.57 crore.

</p><p class='TableClas'>The cement sales has risen 2 per cent to 3.97 million tonne in the first quarter, while the sponge iron and viscose staple fibre (VSF) sales fallen 35 per cent and 18 per cent, respectively. </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>The sponge iron unit was shut down for maintenance. </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>The lower off-take of VSF reflected on the sales. Caustic soda and white cement sales were also up during the period. </P>
