Ahmedabad-based Hirise Hospitality Private Limited on Wednesday rolled out portable hotel rooms under the brand name 'Beetle Smartotels', by recycling discarded containers. With the first such hotel room being deployed at Mundra in Kutch, the company is now looking to add 2,000 portable hotel rooms by 2018 pan-India.

Manufactured at the company's Ahmedabad facility, the rooms feature plush interiors, decor, top security mechanisms and safe deposit lockers along with entertainment and technology.

"These moving hotels use the concept of recycling and are environmentally conducive. They are built out of unused or discarded containers ensuring speedy construction without quality compromise. We source discarded containers, treat them using high quality rust-proof paints and refurbish them with three levels of heat insulation before decking them up with plush interiors to create portable hotel rooms," said Tanmay Bathwal, managing director of Hirise Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.

The company is able to work on 150 rooms at the facility. Being managed on its own, Hirise Hospitality has been approached by hotel management brands for potential tie-up for Beetle Smartotels.

"With Beetle Smartotels, we are stepping into a domain where no one has treaded before. We took a bold step forward and have tasted success ever since. We are successfully bridging the gap in availability of temporary, yet quality accommodation in a record time. All facilities required for the portable hotels are manufactured right here in Ahmedabad to ensure quality," added Bathwal.

Beetle Smartotels is being built with options to choose between portable service apartments to rooms best for single business travelers.

The cost of production for the portable hotel rooms currently is around Rs 15 lakh per room as against the industry standard of Rs 40-50 lakh per room in the mid-market segment. Even as it plans to roll out around 140 more rooms in near future, the company is anticipating generation of Rs 3,000 per night of ARR.

Meanwhile, having invested around Rs 20 crore for the facility, Hirise Hospitality plans to up the ante by expanding the capacity at the facility through a capex of Rs 300 crore.
