JSW Steel's production up by 15% in FY13

It produced 8.5 mn tonne of steel as against 7.4 mn tonne in FY12

 

JSW Steel’s produced 8.518 million tonne of steel in 2012-13 as against 7.429 million tonne in 2011-12, a jump of 15%.

The company said, “In spite of severe constraints in availability and quality of iron ore in the state of Karnataka, the company could operate its Vijayanagar plant at about 80% capacity due to its unique ability of using low grade iron ore through beneficiation process.”

The company said that its flat steel production grew by 17%, to 5.365 million tonne and long steel production stood at 1.521 million tonne, up by 18%.
