Luminous ties up with Redington for distribution of UPS

With an aim to achieve over six- fold growth in sale of its UPS in India in three years, consumer durables firm Luminous Power has forged a tie-up with IT products and distribution solutions provider Redington India.
"The tie-up with Redington would allow us use their distribution expertise in the IT segment for growth of our UPS market. Redington's penetration across the country is high and it will help us to enter territories so far uncharted," Luminous Power Director Sunil Bhalla said.
He said the company expects its sales figure in the UPS segment to reach 3.5 lakh unit by next year, up from less than 2 lakh unit in 2007-08.
"We plan to increase six-fold from last year's figures and reach sales of 10 lakh unit within three years," he added.
"We expect a business turnover of Rs 65 crore in the UPS segment this year once the tie-up gets working and are planning to take it to Rs 200 crore by end of 2010-11," Bhalla said.
Luminous at present operates its UPS business in North India and parts of the East.
"Redington's distribution network would help us move across the country and penetrate each section of the IT solutions customer," he said.
Bhalla said the tie-up would target assembly customers, solo customers, government institutions, telecom players, hardware and software players and solutions providers for growth of the business.
