Marriott opens business hotel at Chakan

Despite slowdown, the Marriott International has opened business brand hotel 'Courtyard by Marriott' in industrial and auto belt of Chakan near Pune. It is a third Courtyard in the city and 10th in the country. This is the first international star hotel in the Chakan-Talegaon belt.

Even though, Marriott has not revealed the total investment in this project, the estimated cost of this property can be ' 150 crore. The property is developed by Redstone Goup. Marriott International is coming up with another 45 properties across India in the next few years. Currently, it has 22 properties in India. Also, it is launching its new and sixth brand Fairfield Inn at Bangalore. In the near future, the group is also introducing its Autograph Collection brand in India. 
 

Commenting on expansion plans, Rajiv Menon, vice president, area vice president, South Asia, Marriott International said, "Every year, we are signing about 10 to 20 deals to develop properties for new hotels. We have aggressive expansion plan for India and will come up with another 45 hotels across India. Despite slowdown, Marriott is fairly doing good business and our average room occupancy across all the properties is of 70 per cent. The hotel industry is growing at 6 per cent while we have achieved double digit growth in the last financial year. 

He added, "Chakan, is an established industrial hub and seen tremendous urbanisation in the recent years. Considering the Chakan's   With an increasing number of industries coming up in Chakan, we felt this was the ideal opportunity to set up a property. Chakan being a manufacturing and automobile hub, a space needed to be filled for the luxury business travel. Courtyard by Marriott Chakan is suitably modeled to suit all business requirements."
