NCR may set up tech centre in Hyd

NCR, which is planning to establish its second world headquarters in India, has chosen Hyderabad as the likely location.

The company, a global leader in self-service technology and products, is proposing to hire a built-up space of 650,000 sft in a special economic zone entailing an investment of over $55 million in three years.

A delegation led by M Hernan, vice president - global relations, NCR, today met state IT&C minister P Laxmaiah and informed about the company’s operations and immediate plans for India.

NCR currently employs around 3,000 people in the country, both direct and indirect, in IT support, sales and service and manufacturing at various locations.

 

For the new centre, it proposes to hire about 4,800 people with an annual salary bill of $55 million as the workforce will comprise highly qualified professionals like engineers and MBAs, according to a release from the minister’s office.

Laxmaiah said the company had sought certain incentives and other support from the AP government. NCR’s products and services include ATMs, mobile internet banking, point of sale devices and self check-in kiosks.
