Nirmal Organo bags process patent for two bio-products

Agro research companies are now focussing on biotechnology for rich cultivation of crops instead of depending on chemical fertilisers which may cause harm to plantations, an expert in the field said today.

Jalgaon-based Nirmal Organo Bio-Tech Pvt Ltd, a part of the Nirmal Group, has recently received "production process" patent for its two bio-products "� nirmal bio-force, a plant growth vitaliser for foliar spray, and nirmal bio-power, a bio-soil enricher for soil application.

The company claims to be the first to receive process patent.

The two process patented products will help increase productivity by 20-30 per cent and improve quality of agricultural produce as well as plant and crop growth, flowering and fruiting among others, a Nirmal Group release claimed here recently.

The use of these bio products will also help produce organic vegetables and fruits suitable for exports. The process patents will also benefit the owners of gardens and landscapes in urban India.

R O Patil, chairman and managing director, Nirmal Group and also an MLA, says, "This will not only benefit India but also the developed and developing countries worldwide."

The patented product contains bio-amino acids and plant growth stimulants and is developed by using advanced bio-tech process to get extracts of beneficial bacteria and blue-green algae.

The two bio-products are farmer-friendly too as they are economical and effective as well as eco-friendly.

Moreover, there are no chemical residues left over in fruits, vegetables, grains and feeds making them acceptable in the international markets too by exporting them.

Feedback after tests on both bio-force and bio-power on various economically important crops have been very encouraging, the company said.

Compared to chemical fertilisers, their use has resulted in savings of 25 per cent of cost on fertilisers, as well as has raised average yield by 20-30 per cent.

Bio-force an extract of special type of blue-green algae, and sea-weeds is meant for vegetables and fruits.

It is also recommended for cereals such as pulse, ornamentals and flowers. Bio-power, a bio-soil enricher improves soil health, promotes plant growth and yield of plantations and fruits.
