Riding on the growing demand for kitchen appliances, Japanese consumer electronics major Panasonic on Friday unveiled the spectra range of automatic electronic cookers in Andhra Pradesh.
Featuring in six different colours, they are priced in the range of Rs 2,599-3,199, and available in the one litre and above capacities.
Hideneri Aso, chairman and managing director of Panasonic Appliances India, said Andhra Pradesh remained a priority market for the company as it contributed 50 per cent to its pan-India electric cooker sales annually, primarily due to higher consumption of rice here.

The launch coincides with Panasonic’s 25 years of kitchen appliance business in India. According to Aso, Panasonic has a 85 per cent share in the organised electronic cooker sales in the country. The segment covers capacities ranging from 0.3 litre-7.5 litre.
To make it attractive for its 9 million consumers in India, it has introduced a mega exchange scheme offering up to 25 per cent discount on the new kitchenware in return for any used-kitchen appliances.
Functioning from its 1.2 million per annum Chennai production facility, Panasonic has sold around 9 million electric cookers till date in India, and is hopeful of clocking 10 million by the end of this calendar year.
The plant is currently exporting 15 per cent of the capacity to the US, Canada, Mexico, West Asia, Africa and Latin America.
