Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power's net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2015 increased 38% to Rs 351.81 crore, up from Rs 254.44 crore during the corresponding quarter last fiscal. The company beat market expectations of a 36% rise.
The surge is largely due to increase in total generation by more than three times to 10,548 million units as against 3,167 million units in Q3FY15 from its operating capacity of 6,000 Mw.
Revenue for the quarter ended December 2015 grew 46% to Rs 2,666 crore against Rs 1,827 crore, while earnings between interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was at Rs 1,230 crore, an increase of 96%.
The Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh generated 8,158 million units operating at PLF of 93.3%. The Rosa Power Plant in UP generated 1342 million units operating at a availability of 93%.
The Butibori Power Plant in Maharashtra generated 1,022 million units, at 99.5% availability. Company's 100 Mw Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project at Dhursar, Rajasthan, has commenced power generation.
