RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), has launched a 120-Mw captive power plant built at a cost of Rs 676 crore.
"It is a step towards achieving self-sufficiency in power generation and to reduce dependency on the state grid," RINL chairman and managing director, P Madhusudan, who commissioned power plant, stated in a press release.
While the average power requirement of VSP at present is stated to be 418 Mw, it has a total captive power generation capacity of 315 Mw.
