Prakash Jha's latest political drama Satyagraha has got onto a good weekend start raking in Rs 39.12 crores at the domestic box office. While trade pundits were skeptical about the movie considering it makes for a slightly long viewing at 152 minutes, word of mouth seems to have worked in its favour.
Released on 30 August, the Disney UTV and Prkash Jha production enjoyed presence across nearly 2700 screens in India. It was largely unopposed considering the Chennai Express has almost run out of steam and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara failed to enthrall audiences. The other movie that could have challenged the Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn starrer is Madras Cafe which has been appreciated by a lot of movie goers also did not seem to make a dent in its earnings.
Satyagraha opened with collections of Rs 11.21 crore which saw a spike on Saturday at Rs 13.08 crore followed by healthy Sunday collections of Rs 14.83 crore.
