Toyota India eyes to gain by launching smaller hybrid cars

Its current hybrid offerings include two top-end luxury sedans - Camry and Prius

Japanese carmaker Toyota is keen to extend the hybrid technology to smaller and affordable vehicles in India. Its current hybrid offerings include two top-end luxury sedans, Camry and Prius.

 “In future, we want to introduce smaller hybrids and complete our hybrid line-up. So, you will see a change in portfolio,” Akito Tachibana, managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, told Business Standard.

Last week, the company introduced the hybrid Prius in India, its second hybrid vehicle after the Camry.

To be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), the Prius has an ex-showroom price of Rs 38.96 lakh. The Camry hybrid is
