Consumer electronics and home appliances maker Videocon will be investing Rs 500 crore for designing and developing new products and to increase manufacturing capacities of its products.
Also, it is launching a new series of low cost tablets jointly with its Japanese partner Sansui in South India around Onam. The tablets will be priced between Rs 10000 to Rs 12,000 for the 10.1" model and between Rs 5000 and 7000 for the 7".
Recently, Videocon, which has a marketing and manufacturing arrangement with Japanese electronics major Sansui, launched the 46" Brush Metal TV in the city.
Commenting on this, Anirudh Dhoot, Director, Videocon Industries said,"Videocon will be spent in enhancing its three product segments - appliances, televisions and IT products - as well as in adding manpower at its R&D centres overseas. We will finalise this over the next four to five months. Sansui has always been a pioneer in introducing innovations in technology."
