Zee Learn posted a standalone net loss of Rs 7.35 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2013 as compared to Rs 7.68 crore standalone net loss posted in Q4 2012. The total income from operations for the company stood at Rs 36.4 crore, seeing a 76.7% rise over previous year.
On a consolidated basis, the company posted a net loss of Rs 21.4 crore for the financial year 2012-13, in comparison to a net loss of Rs 27.6 crore in FY2011-12. Purchase of education goods and television content and employe benefits were the biggest contributors to the total expenses incurred by the company.
Speaking to Business Standard, Navneet Anhal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zee Learn said that there complete focus on profitability. "The primary driver of growth will be our new centres. We are planning to set up 300 plus centres of our pre-school chain KidZee and have 30 more branches of our K12 offering, Mount Litera Zee School," said Anhal.

Anhal also informed that they planned to double the enrollments to about 400 students in their K12 school this fiscal. Further, the company is also looking to benefit by providing content to education channel ZeeQ, which is also part of the Essel Group.
In terms of expanding to international areas, he explained that they were evaluating synergy markets for Zee Learn in regions abroad. Further, he said that Zee Learn is also looking to provide ZeeQ content to schools and has received a positive response from these educational institutions.
In this fiscal, the company's chief executive added that expansion of centres, new enrollments and introduction new models of BrainCafe in schools, would get profitability back to their books.
BrainCafé is Zee Learn’s endeavour to reach out to schools across India and enable them with an interactive learning environment. As one such initiative, BrainCafé Science enables children to create their own knowledge with the help of a pedagogy.
