DATA STORY: Global Covid death toll tops 2 mn, of which India accounts for 7.58%

India on Thursday conducted 730,096 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 184,962,401. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.1%

India on Friday reported a net reduction of 576 to take its count of active coronavirus cases to 213,027, the lowest since June 29 and 79.07 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases has declined to 0.86 per cent (one in 116). The country is 13^th among the most affected countries by active cases. India added 15,590 cases to take its total caseload to 10,527,683. And, with 191 new fatalities its Covid-19 death toll reached 151,918, or 1.44 per cent of total confirmed infections.
