DATA STORY: India adds 16,432 Covid cases, lowest single-day spike since June 24

India on Monday conducted 983,695 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 169,801,749. The test positivity rate recorded was 1.7%

India on Tuesday reported a net reduction of 8720 to bring its count of active coronavirus cases down to 268,581, the lowest since July 8 and 73.6 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. With a continuous trend of daily reductions, India’s share of global active coronavirus cases is down at 1.22 per cent (one in 82). The country added 16,432 cases, the lowest single-day spike since June 24, to take its total caseload to 10,224,303. And, with 252 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 148,153, or 1.45 per cent of total confirmed infections.
