Data story: India logs 6,422 new Covid cases; active tally rises to 46,389

India on September 15 reported an increase of 640 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 46,389. The country is thirty-fourth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On September 15, it added 6,422 cases to take its total caseload to 44,516,479. And, with 34 new fatalities, including 20 reconciled by Kerala, its Covid-19 death toll reached 528,250, or 1.19 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 

With 3,109,550 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on September 14, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,159,816,124. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,941,840 — or 98.71 per cent of the total caseload — with 5,748 new cured cases being reported on September 15.
