In its report, the US body alleged that in 2019, India used its parliamentary majority to institute national-level policies violating religious freedom, especially Muslims

The US Commission for International (USCIRF) on Tuesday asked the State Department to put 14 nations, including India, under "countries of particular concern" for "increasing assault on religious minorities".

India rejected the observations in a statement, terming them as "biased and tendentious".
