The government had in June banned 59 Chinese apps including ByteDance's TikTok to protect country's "sovereignty and integrity".

The government on Wednesday banned 118 Chinese apps, including gaming app PUBG and Chinese search engine app Baidu citing they are a threat to the "sovereignty and integrity" of the country. The government invoked its powers under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act and relevant provisions under IT Rules 2009 to block these apps, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said on Wednesday.
