Against the backdrop of the killing of two Keralite fishermen by armed guards of an Italian merchant vessel in February, the government of India would likedemarcation of piracy-infested waters and setting up Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for maritime security. Addressing the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS)-2012 in South Africa on Thursday, the Indian Navy chief, Admiral Nirmal Verma, asked member-countries to set up SOPs and other deliverables to make it easier for member-nations to cooperate in times of crisis.
