Uttar Pradesh would hard sell ‘Brand UP’ during the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) investment conclave ‘Invest North’ beginning tomorrow at Gurgaon.
The state had already announced its Infrastructure & Industrial Investment Policy 2012 and the various departments have been in the process of attuning to the new policy framework.
In this backdrop, the Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to showcase ongoing fresh efforts and policy initiatives for attracting investment.
Yadav has realised that socioeconomic transformation could come only through increased economic activity by effecting enabling investment environment.
It is an effort to disseminate information on industry friendly provisions of the new policy along with the endeavour of the state to create congenial investment environment, UP Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anil K Gupta commented on the participation at the conclave.
A presentation depicting state initiatives, such as salient features of the policy, projects underway/in offing, mega pubic private partnership (PPP) infra projects, IT, energy, transport, aviation, tourism etc would be shown. Identified sectoral thrust areas, such as food-processing, leather clusters, IT parks/cities, plastic city and mega food parks would be given due exposure highlighting opportunities in UP.
The government had already compiled relevant booklets and brochures on the latest industrial and infrastructure development oriented policies and decisions.
“It is crucial to send a strong message to investors on planned development of concept growth execution strategy of government in existing areas of interest and emerging opportunities,” he said.
The government will hold discussions and information exchange with top-rung industrialists and investors at the two-day conclave.
The CII event would showcase investment opportunities in UP, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Chandigarh. UP minister of small industries Bhagwat Saran Gangwar would lead the state contingent, what with other states also gearing up to offer competition.
