Nineteen out of 26 industries that have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Orissa government have made significant headway in setting up of Industrial Training Centres (ITCs) with academic session of the proposed centres scheduled to begin from August this year.
The industries that have filed applications with the Directorate of Technical Education & Training (DT&T) for establishment of ITCs are Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC), Tata Power, Rungta Mines, Essar Steel Orissa Ltd, Emami Paper Mills, Lanco Babandh Power Company, CESC Ltd, Ind-Barath Energy Ltd, GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd and Mahanadi Aban Power Company Ltd to name a few.
"The state government had signed MoUs with 26 industries for setting up of ITCs and out of this, 19 industries have progressed well and are set to start the academic session of their centres from August 1 this year. Of the 19 industries, 15 have acquired land on their own for setting up of these ITCs. The remaining seven industries are facing problems relating to land acquisition and we had discussions with three such industries”, said Chief Secretary B K Patnaik.
