Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a pharmaceutical market here at Gollapudi.
The complex is being constructed by the Krishna District Wholesale Drug Trade Association to mark its silver jubilee year. The project would come up on 3 acres and would have five floors, providing 650 shops, fully airconditioned and with Internet facility.
It would also have two conference halls and an air conditioned restaurant for traders, buyers and staff. This apart, it a free health centre for the staff, two cargo lifts with 2 tonne capacity each and three passenger lifts have been planned.
Speaking on the occasion, Rosaiah asked traders to ensure quality drugs to the people. He cautioned them against entertaining spurious drugs and said the government would support every trade that is conducted according rules and regulations.
Andhra Pradesh accounted for 40 per cent of the total Indian drug exports. The pharmaceutical industry was gradually expanding in the state, he added.
