Andhra Pradesh to set up SSG, DSG in line with NSG

Andhra Pradesh will set up a State Security Guards (SSG) and District Security Guards (DSG) on the lines of the National Security Guards, the elite anti-sabotage operations force that rescued several people from the clutches for the terrorists in Mumbai.
Disclosing to the media about the cabinet decisions taken today, information and public relations minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy today the details of the proposed security wing will be finalised shortly. The government has asked senior police officials to submit a report on Monday on this aspect. The state police will be also trained to deal emergencies, he said.
This apart, the Organisation to Counter Terrorist Operations (Octopus) formed last year and the Grey Hounds in the state will be strengthened. The state also decided to set up a Marine Security Force if needed apart from revamping the marine police system. Immediate steps will be taken in all these aspects, he said.
AP is the second state after Maharashtra to think about setting up an SSG.
