Ap, S Korean Firm Sign Moi In It

The state government and the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency (GICIPA) of South Korea signed a memorandum of interest (MoI) on January 23 to assist each other in the area of information and communications technology.
The MoI was signed by J Satyanarayana, the principal secretary (IT&C), and Young Joo Kim, the president & CEO of GICIPA.
It seeks to develop co-operation in the following areas of hardware technology including chip design and photonics; development of software education and training of specialists including exchange of scholars and students, participation in IT fairs and trade shows, etc.

GICIPA was established in 2002 with the support of the Korean Ministry of Information and Communications.
It has been striving for IT development and also cultural promotion of multimedia and animation technology; development of photonics related industries development of infrastructure training of manpower for the IT industry, stated a press release.
Some of the projects being promoted by GICIPA are the Gwangju Center for Software promotion; a software center in which over 20 IT firms are operating; Center for Visual Arts and Center for Multimedia Technology Promotion.
