Conduct field inspection in Krishna-Godavari basin: HC

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests to conduct a field inspection in Krishna-Godavari basin on the impact of land subsidence due to the exploration of natural gas.  

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Anil R Dave and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan yesterday granted four months time to the ministry to complete the study.  

The petition has been filed by the Krishna-Godavari Delta Protection Committee.  

The Reliance Group is exploring gas in the Krishna-Godavari basin.
