The government has nominated Anjuly Chib Duggal, a secretary in the department of financial services, to the board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with effect from September 3, the central bank said on Thursday.

Duggal, who was appointed as financial services secretary on September 1, replaces Hasmukh Adhia who has become the revenue secretary..

The government is yet to nominate Saktikanta Das, the economic affairs secretary, to the RBI board. Traditionally, the economic affairs secretary is nominated to the RBI board.

Earlier, in June, the government had said Ayay Tyadi, additional secretary in the economic affairs department, “will be a director on the board of the RBI vice Rajiv Mehrishi,” who was the economic affairs secretary then. Das replaced Mehrishi earlier this month as the later was made home secretary.
