Jharkhand government has referred the proposal of the state vigilance bureau for granting prosecution sanction against state's chief secretary Ashok Kumar Singh to the state law department.
The department of personnel and training of the Union government had earlier asked for fresh sanction from the state government to prosecute the chief secretary in a case under various sections of the IPC lodged by the vigilance bureau of Bihar in 2002 on the charges of accepting donations for two non-government organisations, Green Earth India and Sanvedana, during his tenure as managing director of the Bihar State Finance Corporation.
Singh was transferred to Jharkhand after the state was carved out of Bihar. He became the chief secretary of Jharkhand in April last year.
When the case was transferred to Jharkhand, the state’s vigilance bureau also conducted a thorough inquiry into the case and found Singh guilty.
Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda said that he has referred the matter to the state’s law department for its opinion. He added that his government would not compromise on the issue of corruption.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand assembly witnessed an unruly scene during the budget session on Thursday over Singh’s alleged involvement in corrupt practices during his stint in Bihar and a charge-sheet by a court in Patna.
This disturbed business in the house during the first half of the session.
